Started in 2009, Lieberthal Insurance offers the prefect blend of small boutique agency mixed with the big vision and real world experience customarily associated with a much larger operation. We cater to the individual and family just as well as the small business and larger clients with millions of dollars in annual revenue.
We are always pushing the boundaries and trying to find new markets and ways to do things. This constant reinvention has benefited us in unforeseen ways and given us much more of a worldly view of this industry and the opportunities that are constantly changing with insurance.
Adam Lieberthal is our founder and main Licensed Agent. He believes that by using insurance products we can protect our assets and thus create a solid foundation on which to build financial success. In a former life, Adam was newly married, buying his first home, and climbing the corporate ladder in the country’s largest retailer of Musical Instruments. It sounded promising. Working for the 900 pound gorilla seemed as secure as anything and doing what he loved in the music industry was very exciting and rewarding. Around 2003 things began to change along with the rest of the economy. By 2005, his company was sold to an investment bank and next came the restructuring, cutbacks, and layoffs of an entire regional management system. After being offered a position either back in the store working on commissions, or in the corporate office and starting at the beginning either way, he took a job for a product manufacturer that he had worked with. But the Great Recession was already well underway and after jumping from company to company for several years, it became apparent that a stable future this was not.
A family attorney suggested that Adam speak with a client of his who was an independent insurance agent. Upon first hearing of this, Adam retorted to his wife Julie that “Asking me to sell insurance would be like walking on the moon!” And that is exactly what happened. Adam joined that agency as a partner, and jumped two feet in to a brand-new world. He learned the insurance business from the ground up, taking in a tremendous amount of information that first year, and doing everything start to finish in that agency as if he was already a seasoned veteran. As the year came to a close, he had the option to continue with his contract in purchasing his portion of the agency but wanted to make sure that he had the most well rounded view of this industry that was still so new to him. He wanted to see what the “big-dogs” knew. How they made their slick sales, marketing, and advertising systems work. He wanted to know what made them tick and why a large national brand name would be a “better” option for someone. Joining the Farmers Insurance group was certainly a view behind the curtain and for the next year, Adam continued building his business as a Farmers agent. He worked closely with his district manager and learned all the ins and outs of their products, their systems, underwriting, and pros and cons of the “captive agency” model.
In the end, he could not get the “Independent” bug out of his system as it was already firmly planted. Realizing that not all pegs can fit into a round hole, Adam again made another difficult decision and cut ties with Farmers. The next move was the first obvious decision in this now 2 year journey at this point. He already had a book of business. he had people that relied on him. People that needed him throughout the year. He felt that responsibility and that weight of protecting people. He enjoyed meeting new people and he also enjoyed getting to know many folks that had been in his life for as long as he could remember, but now he played a different role to them as an adviser. And in so doing, this brought him closer to these important people in his life and added many new wonderful relationships. So the business would continue and Lieberthal Insurance Services was born.
Today Adam works his tail off as an Insurance Adviser, he works to be the best husband he can be to his wife Julie, and he works to be the best father he can be to his son Oliver. As a sought-after gigging musician in the Los Angeles area, Adam carries the same passion into his business life, and continues his relentless pursuit of that perfect note, to makes every opportunity and moment the fullest and brightest that it can be.
